Achieve a paddling skills certificate
We are delighted to be able to help you achieve a Paddle UK Award that demonstrates your paddling skills, knowledge and safety awareness. Show your personal performance awards to clubs or other paddlesport activity providers so they can understand your previous experience or use it as a benchmark for your own development.

If you enrol on an award with us you will receive our new certification guide booklet that you can use to structure and track your progress. This can be done through independent learning with a group of peers or with a qualified coach. When you believe that you have all the required knowledge and can perform the skills, you need to book a session with a provider of the award who will observe, give feedback and sign you off. This final certification fee is £11 for members of Paddle UK or £22 for non-members.

Along with your booklet, when you enrol with us you will receive 10% off your next kayak or SUP lesson. Depending on your previous experience this can either be used to create and work on an action plan, as the sign off session or any stage in between.
​
The cost of enrolment is only £5 and your 10% discount on the next lesson will usually make the overall cost cheaper than without enrolling!

Paddle Explore Award
This award is aimed at anyone who is looking to become independent on the water and wants to know how to control their kayak or paddleboard to stay safe on the water.
​
You will learn the necessary paddling skills on the water to move around in style, while also looking at weather and planning considerations so that you can plan your own adventures with friends in new locations.
​
This certification can be completed in an paddle craft but we specialise in kayaks & stand up paddleboards here at Paddle the Dee.

SUP Sheltered Water Award
This SUP specific award will guide you in developing an understanding of how to plan and paddle a SUP trip that is both safe and enjoyable in sheltered water (up to 200m from shore and up to force 3 winds).
​
This award is a step above the Paddle Explore and focuses on SUP specific skills and knowledge, so that you can confidently explore and enjoy this amazing sport.

White Water Award
The white water award is designed to turn you into a confident kayak on white water rivers up to grade 2. This includes learning about safety in the white water environment, effectively moving your kayak using river features and being able to plan a successful day on the water.
​
This is a natural next step for a budding white water paddler who has previously completed their Paddle Explore Award.
